The best (stone) on The Block

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH Cosentino • IMAGERY COURTESY OF Kinsman • STORY Elizabeth Clarke

Australia's favourite DIY renovation show, The Blockturns 20 this year. Cosentino, the global, family-owned Spanish company that produces and distributes innovative, sustainable and high-value surfaces, is the show's official stone supplier.

This season, five couples headed to Charming Street in Melbourne's Bayside suburb of Hampton East. Here, they were tasked with renovating five 1950s homes into stunning contemporary havens.

For their kitchens, each couple selected their favourite stone from the Cosentino range, combining it with Kinsman's masterful cabinetry. "This season has probably been one of the more difficult to judge," says judge Darren Palmer. "Each house and floor plan is so different, and the spaces are unique."

If you're renovating, building or simply dreaming of your ideal kitchen, find inspiration and the perfect stone on The Block.

Embracing natural beauty and modern styling, Kyle and Leslie included a nod to mid-century design with organic detail, a warm colour palette and seamless functionality. They chose Consentino's Dekton Sabbia for their 3.5-metre island, which includes an integrated built-in sink, dishwasher, and hidden bin. Dekon Sabbia is also used on the splashback and in the laundry and butler's pantry.

Cosentino x The Block House 2: Leah & Ash

House 2: Leah & Ash

"Wow factor sells houses, so we wanted to create a bold, sophisticated, and functional kitchen," says Leah and Ash, who selected from the Sensa range for their splashbacks and curved kitchen island bench. Three metres long, it provides plenty of storage and seating space for family and entertaining.

Cosentino x The Block House 3: Kristy & Brett

House 3: Kristy & Brett

A masterclass in classic luxury design, Cosentino's Scalea Rosso Lepanto makes a dramatic impact on Kristy and Brett's benchtop that connects the home's living zones, Dekton Zenith is used throughout the kitchen, and Silestone Ethereal Haze is used to stunning effect in the pantry.

Cosentino x The Block House 4: Steph & Gian

House 4: Steph & Gian

Inspired by Japanese and Scandinavian styles, Steph and Gian created a serene, minimalist style by blending neutral tones with Cosentino stone's soft, imperfect veining. Sensa Taj Mahal is used on the three-metre kitchen countertops and splashbacks, and Dekton Zenith is used in the laundry.

Cosentino x The Block House 5: Eliza & Liberty

House 5: Eliza & Liberty

Eliza and Liberty's was the winning kitchen for a good reason – it’s vibrant orange Smeg Portofino Freestanding Cooker with matching Canopy Rangehood is a showstopper! It also complements a stunning four-metre-long island bench crafted from Cosentino Dekton's latest collection Pietra Kode Vk04 Grafite, which extends across two splashback zones, highlighting the bar area and cooking zone. The overall feel is clean, modern and sophisticated, and it scored a perfect ten from judge Neale Whitaker.
