Western Australian designers, makers, builders and retailers who make the house a haven. Your essential resource and inspiration for building, renovating and decorating.

Hello readers

I adore design. From the little details to the bold architectural elements and everything in between.

As a photographer, I have the privilege of documenting truly beautiful homes. Not just the big expensive residences, but the smaller dwellings that are crafted into something so warm and liveable I want to drop my camera and move right in. Whilst I’m commissioned to capture these projects once the blood, sweat and tears have been shed,  documenting just the end result doesn’t seem enough to me.

This is why I have created Havenist, a place to celebrate beautiful homes and spaces, as well as the creatives who make them. The opportunity to deconstruct the potency of these homes, rooms, and spaces into different elements is exciting. The collective genius, which includes hours of work, planning, designing, sourcing, collecting, and styling, to create a place or space never ceases to amaze me. Their collaborative ability to create somewhere people gravitate to and want to live in every day is truly incredible.

PREPARE TO BE INSPIRED.

Jody D’Arcy

FOUNDER + EDITOR + PHOTOGRAPHER

Jody is a self-confessed ‘cloud collector’. She adores design (and photographing cloudscapes) and is one of Australia’s leading interior and architectural photographers. As founder of Havenist, she is passionate about showcasing local creatives and the state’s most unique havens. Jody shoots for leading brands and contributes to publications including Belle, Vogue Living, House & Garden, Real Living, InsideOut, and The Design Files. Her images traverse the fine art space. Her most covetable landscapes and cloud images have been translated into limited edition prints and wallpaper, and her work adorns the walls of our most beautiful residences and boutiques, including Louis Vuitton Perth.

Kelli Savietto

CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Lover of nature and the arts, graphic designer Kelli uses pixels like paint to give life to brands in both the print and digital worlds. With a background in events and marketing, she is waving her wand over the pages of Havenist and design projects for clients like The Kids Research Institute, editeur, Hart & Co., Malvina Stone, Jane Ledger Interiors, Woodpecker Flooring, and Robert Finnie Design. When she isn’t working her magic, Kelli is wrangling two small children, fussing over her Schnoodle Vespa, and enjoys pouring over books and magazines for inspiration whilst indulging in a gin or two. She is proudly of Nyikina, Yawuru heritage from the Kimberley of Western Australia.
